Webedia Germany : YouTube and allyance strengthen female gaming influencers with “Girls & Gaming” initiative

December 10, 2021 -
  • 15 female gaming influencers from Germany are part of the allyance Academy “GG – Girls & Gaming”.
  • Programme includes workshops, coaching, events and networking opportunities
  • Initiative scheduled for 12 months

“We, as allyance, are very happy to launch the “Girls & Gaming” initiative together with Gnu (Gaming creator and godmother of the programme) and YouTube. Unfortunately, the past has shown that women in gaming still don’t get the attention and recognition they deserve. We want to counteract this with the allyance Academy. That’s why we’re really looking forward to sharing our knowledge with our 15 great female gaming influencers,” says Philipp Senkbeil, Director allyance & Corporate PR.

The “Girls & Gaming” initiative was initiated by the allyance team as part of their Academy. With the allyance Academy, the Berlin-based influencer experts have made it their mission to coach talents in various areas. They receive support in the promotion of female gamers from YouTube, which is an official supporter of the initiative. The cooperation is initially scheduled to last 12 months. The programme will start on 10 December 2021.

Selection criteria to be part of the “Girls & Gaming” programme

A total of 15 female influencers have made it into the allyance Academy “GG – Girls & Gaming”. MissRage, Juliversal and JinjaOwO are among them. In order to participate, the candidates had to fulfil certain selection criteria. These included the number of active years on YouTube, the number of followers and the positive influence the talent has on its community.

Gaming creator Gnu is patron of the programme

In addition to workshops on topics such as “Dealing with Hate Speech”, participants can expect networking events, personal coaching and a two-year membership in the allyance network. Germany’s most successful gaming creator Gnu has been recruited as a sponsor for the programme. She will be actively involved in the allyance Academy and will not only provide advice to the participants, but also give workshops herself.

“Currently, there are very few women in the gaming sector on YouTube. In fact, I was the first woman to reach one million subscriptions. Before me, more than 20 men had already achieved this. That’s why I’m happy that allyance and Google Germany are trying to change this with the “Girls & Gaming” programme,” says Jasmin aka Gnu about her decision to support the programme as a sponsor. She continues: “I hope to be able to help the female creators with my experience”.

YouTube: We see great potential in female gaming creators

YouTube’s Strategic Partner Manager Alysa Reuter is also pleased about the successful start of the collaboration: “We strongly promote diversity on the platform and are therefore very happy to be a supporter of this great programme. We are very pleased that allyance wants to promote female gaming creators. We see great potential here and also a need to help. It’s great that Gnu is getting involved here. She is a perfect role model.”
