January 21, 2025 -

At the press conference held on January 17, 2025, in Paris, Webedia Esports, represented by Bertrand Amar, Head of Webedia Esports, unveiled its ambitions and innovations for the upcoming year.

From the French League of Legends League (LFL) and its Division 2 to the EMEA Masters, the professional VALORANT circuit with Challengers France Revolution, RLCS Rocket League French broadcasts, EVA circuits, and EVO France, each competition is set to take a significant leap forward in 2025.

2025: The Acceleration of Webedia Esports

French League of Legends Championship (LFL)

The French League of Legends League, a flagship of national esports, will transform in 2025 with a brand-new format of three splits spread over 63 broadcast days, compared to 48 in 2024. Matches will now be streamed on OTP’s Twitch channel (official broadcaster) and live on TikTok and X, catering to the demands of new generations of fans.

In 2024, the LFL consolidated its unique position in Europe with a record of 231,000 concurrent viewers and 39 million views, surpassing 2023 numbers. For its seventh season, the LFL once again aims to break records!

2025 will also feature a new edition of the iconic LFL Days event, held at the Grand Paris Sud Arena of Karmine Corp in Évry-Courcouronnes in April.

Finally, before the new LFL season kicks off on January 22, fans can relive the 2024 season and explore behind-the-scenes action in the documentary series “Dans la Légende”

Division 2 of League of Legends (Div 2)

In 2025, Division 2 will adopt a format similar to the LFL, featuring three splits and 54 competition days, primarily broadcast on weekends.

The “Div2” saw a historic opening weekend on January 11 and 12, reaching a record peak of 36,000 concurrent viewers and an average of 10,000 viewers per match.

Broadcasted on Twitch by OTP, and now also on TikTok and X, Div 2 continues to attract a growing audience, showcasing emerging talent in French esports. Many star players, such as Caliste, and top teams (Karmine, JL, TDS) started their journeys in Div2.

EMEA Masters

Managed by Webedia Esports since 2024, the EMEA Masters brings together champions from 13 European leagues and the MENA region, including the LFL. This "Champions League" will occur thrice in 2025, offering more excitement than ever.

After a successful 2024, with 24 million views and 6.7 million hours of broadcast time across 13 languages, this competition aims to expand its reach by involving top regional teams and growing its audience.

Challengers France Révolution (VALORANT)

Webedia Esports now oversees the professional VALORANT circuit in France, which will expand further in 2025 with 39 competition days and a three-split format. This will enable the best French teams to compete on the European stage.

This year will also feature a groundbreaking development: the first-ever offline event for the circuit, a gathering designed to unite fans and celebrate the growth of VALORANT’s French scene.

RLCS (Rocket League Championship Series)

Webedia Esports and BLAST are partnering to produce, broadcast, and commercialize the RLCS (Rocket League Championship Series) in France in 2025.

RLCS, the international Rocket League circuit, includes two “Majors” and the world championship finals. Rocket Baguette, France’s leading Rocket League media outlet, will handle broadcasts.

EVA (Esports Virtual Arenas)

The EVA arenas network is experiencing exponential growth, with 48 locations opened in France, Spain, Belgium, USA, and Bahrain for 600.000+ players, including 1,600 players participating in leagues in 2024, up from 495 in 2023!

In 2025, the EVA League 1 and EVA French Cup competitions will adopt a new format and will be broadcast on MGG TV and MGG’s Twitch channel. Additionally, Webedia and EVA are announcing the establishment of a professional framework to integrate esports clubs and professionalize the EVA ecosystem. BK ROG becomes the first professional esports club to join the EVA circuit.

EVO France

EVO, the world’s largest fighting game event, is coming to Europe for the first time in Nice, from October 10 to 12, 2025.

This exceptional event will host high-level competitions across six games, conferences, community tournaments, and numerous exhibitors, making EVO France a proper convention for fans of Street Fighter, Tekken, and other fighting games.

Ticket sales will open before the end of March.

Esports Moves Closer to Sports

2025 marks a pivotal year for esports, rethinking its broadcasting model to meet the expectations of new generations and actively exploring opportunities with traditional broadcasters.

“After working with France Télévisions in 2024, Webedia Esports continues to explore new broadcasting avenues to broaden the audience for its competitions. Beyond traditional Twitch streams, competitions will be streamed live on TikTok, X, and creator channels through the increasingly popular “Watch Parties” model.

The development of media rights represents a significant step forward for the esports
ecosystem. Combining revenues from broadcasting rights and traditional partners, this new economic model aims to create a stable environment for all stakeholders, from teams and organizers to broadcasters.” Bertrand Amar , Webedia’s Head of Esports
