Webedia France : ES1 esport TV channel becomes MGG TV

January 12, 2022 -

Through this rebranding, the Webedia group marks the regrouping of all its esport media assets under the MGG brand.

ES1, the first 100% esport TV channel edited by the Webedia group with 1.3 million viewers per month, is evolving and becoming “MGG TV”. The channel, which brings together a growing number of esport fans, is currently available on all operators.

Driven by a desire to bring together the group’s esport assets under a single brand, this harmonisation began in October 2020 with the rebranding of the Millenium website, France’s leading website dedicated to esport news, renamed “MGG”.

The MGG TV channel completes this unique offer composed of the site, which has gathered 27 million unique users in 2021, its social networks (1.8 million subscribers), its talents and its Twitch channel, which will be launched on January 17. It thus benefits from the power of this ecosystem to highlight its exclusive programmes such as dedicated magazines (“e-Race”, “FRAG”, “Va y avoir du sport”…), its premium competitions or gaming sessions aimed at an audience of enthusiasts.

The channel is increasingly positioned at the heart of major competitions and events in the esport sector thanks to its exclusive competitive TV rights, including the broadcasting of the French League of Legends, the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) and eFootball rights via its partnership with the FFF.

In addition, the marketing of the channel’s advertising space has been entrusted to FranceTV Publicité, the advertising agency of the France Télévisions group.

For Bertrand Amar, founder of the channel and director of esport activities at Webedia, “This name change is the symbol of a new stage and a new dimension for the channel and for the Webedia group, a leading player in esport. With the rebranding of MGG (formerly Millenium) and the ES1 channel, we are developing an esport offer that allows the same content to be exposed at 360° on social networks, the web, Twitch and TV, which is totally unique and unprecedented.

For Nicolas Gicquel, director of MGG, “This evolution is a great opportunity to increase the visibility of the ES1 channel but also its audience thanks to MGG, the reference brand for esports. All of this will benefit the distributors who have placed their trust in us during this new phase.
